(Washington, D.C. - April 20, 2007) On April 24 – 25, 2007, EPA will hold the National Sustainable Design Expo which showcases the best new designs for sustainable products and technologies, also called "green technology." More than 350 college students from across the country will exhibit their innovative solutions for an environmentally sustainable future, including: generating energy from ocean waves, fuel from seaweed, new technologies to provide clean drinking water to developing nations, and much more! Sustainable designs prove that providing a higher quality of life and protecting the planet are compatible with economic prosperity.

The Expo is also the showcase for EPA’s Annual P3 – People, Prosperity, and the Planet – Award Competition. Last year’s P3 winners have taken their innovations to new levels including starting successful businesses, winning additional awards, and providing help to developing countries.

This is a great opportunity not only for an Earth Day story, but to tell your readers about new technologies developed by university students. The event is being cosponsored by The Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education.
