BROWNFIELDS CLEANUP REVOLVING LOAN FUND PILOTS
APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED

The EPA has begun accepting proposals for the 1999 Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund pilots. Up to 63 pilots will be selected and funded up to $500,000 by May 1999. These pilot grants will capitalize revolving loan funds that will, in turn, end money to eligible public or private borrowers to conduct cleanup activities at brownfields sites. The Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Funds Pilot program enables eligible states, cities, towns, counties, U.S. Territories and tribes to cleanup and sustainably reuse brownfields. (A brownfields is a site, or portion of a site, that has actual or perceived contamination and an active potential for redevelopment or reuse.) Eligible entities for FY 99 pilots must be EPA Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilots awarded prior to Oct. 1, 1999. Eligible entities may also be political subdivisions (such as cities, towns, counties, or tribes) that have either 1) been the subject of a targeted brownfields assessment, or 2) been selected by the EPA, prior to Jan. 1, 1999, to be the subject of a targeted brownfields assessment. Proposals must be postmarked no later than March 8, 1999. Further information on the selection criteria is available in the application booklet, “The Brownfields Economic Redevelopment Initiative: Proposal Guidelines for Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund (January 1999),” which can be obtained on the EPA’s website at: https://www.epa.gov/swerosps/bf/new.htm, or through the Superfund Hotline at 1-800-424-9346 or 703-412-9810.
