The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today that it will resume residential soil sampling for lead contamination in Anniston, Hobson City, and Oxford during the week of February 23, 2004. Soil sampling most recently took place in December 2003. The residential sampling is part of an ongoing removal site assessment that will continue by EPA until Solutia resumes sampling under the terms of the Consent Decree. Solutia has committed to sampling properties under the Consent Decree.

EPA continues to remove lead-contaminated soil from residential properties under an Action Memorandum signed on May 28, 2003.
