The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public meeting regarding the Sigmon's Septic Tank site in Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina on Thursday, August 29, 2002.

The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Celeste Henkel School, 1503 Old Mountain Road in Statesville. EPA officials will be available to provide information on the Superfund process, an overview of field activities and provide a schedule of all upcoming events.

Sigmon's Septic Tank Site is located at 1268 Eufola Road, approximately five miles southwest of Statesville. The property is approximately 15-acres and is bordered by Eufola Road to the north, Lauren Drive to the south, and private landowners to the east and west. Sigmon's Septic Tank Services, a subsidiary of AAA Enterprises, has been owned and operated by the Sigmon family since 1948. The business ceased operations in September 1995 due to financial reasons. Shortly thereafter, Sigmon Environmental Service began operating an active septic removal business.
