FOR RELEASE: FRIDAY, JUNE 5, 1998

EPA’S ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR SCREENING AND TESTING ADVISORY COMMITTEE FINAL MEETING TO BE HELD JUNE 17-18 IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
EPA will hold the ninth and final meeting of its Endocrine Disruptor Screening and Testing Advisory Committee (EDSTAC) on June 17-18 at the Capitol Hilton, 16th and K Streets N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036; tel: 202-639-5095, fax: 202-639-5742. The two-day meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18. During the meeting, committee members will provide final comments on a draft report that is being prepared by the committee for EPA. When final, the report will be used to assist EPA in developing a strategy for screening and testing chemicals to determine whether they can potentially affect endocrine functions in humans, fish and other wildlife. The committee is scheduled to complete and present its final report to EPA in July. Copies of the final report also will be available to the public at that time. The EDSTAC was established to implement the provisions of Food Quality Protection Act and the amendments to the SDWA to provide EPA with recommendations on screening and testing protocols for chemicals suspected of endocrine disruption. Committee members represent a broad spectrum of interests, including government, industry, academia, public health and environmental groups. Information about EDSTAC-related documents and meetings can be found on the EDSTAC Web Site at: https://www.epa.gov/opptintr/opptendo/index.htm or by calling The Keystone Center at 970-468-5822; fax: 970-262-0152.
