White House Global Warming Conference Via Satellite

(#97125) New York, N.Y. -- On Monday, October 6 from 10:00 am - 4:30 pm, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2, in cooperation with local universities and state and commonwealth environmental agencies, will give the public an opportunity to see the White House conference: "The Challenge of Global Warming," live via satellite and to participate in local panel discussions in New York, New Jersey and Puerto Rico.

During the White House conference, President Clinton, Vice President Gore and the First Lady will give remarks during the conference and environmental group members, industry representatives and academic experts will form panels. Panelists will discuss the science of global warming, the role of technology in reducing greenhouse gases, the upcoming Kyoto conference and the economic impacts of global warming. During the mid-day break in the White House conference, EPA Region 2 will host local panel discussions that will feature local climate change experts.
