SOUTH CAROLINA MAN CHARGED WITH FALSIFYING WATER REPORTS

Larry A. Greene of Florence, S.C., was indicted on July 7, in U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina in Columbia on 25 counts of violating the Clean Water Act. Greene allegedly falsified reports that claimed he conducted inspections of pretreatment activities at 12 South Carolina companies. Greene is also accused of forging the signatures of company representatives on the reports. In addition, the defendant is charged with falsely claiming that laboratories had performed analyses on water samples taken at the Marlowe Mobile Home Park in Florence. If convicted, Greene faces a maximum of two years imprisonment and fines of up to $250,000 on each count. The case was investigated by EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
