U.S. EPA approves Washoe County air quality maintenance plan

SAN FRANCISCO – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced it has approved the 8-hour Ozone Maintenance Plan submitted by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection for Washoe County. The County was designated as attainment for the 8-hour ozone standard in 2004. In accordance with federal Clean Air Act requirements, the plan demonstrates that the area will continue to be in attainment with the federal standard through 2014.

Notice of the approval will be published in the Federal Register, along with provision for a 30-day public comment period.
