ADVISORY: EPA'S DeVILLARS TO GIVE SPEECH ON SMARTGROWTH AT MEETING OF PLANNERS IN NH

BOSTON - John P. DeVillars, New England Administrator for the US Environmental Protection Agency, will give a keynote speech on SmartGrowth Thursday, Sept. 9, at the annual meeting of the Northern New England Chapter of the American Planning Association. The meeting will take place at the New England Center on the campus of the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. DeVillars is scheduled to speak during the luncheon, which is planned for noon to 1:30 pm

About 150 professional planners from New England are expected to attend the two-day meeting on "Sustainability in Northern New England," which is co-sponsored by the UNH Office of Sustainability. In his speech, DeVillars will address sprawl in New England communities and what EPA is doing to help communities confront development pressures.

Also at this conference, the EPA will co-sponsor a session called, "Design Your Own Ecological Industrial Park."
