U.S. EPA to award $1 million for environmental justice projects

(Washington, D.C. – June 4, 2007) The U. S Environmental Protection Agency will announce $1 million in grants at a national workshop on environmental justice for community organizations.
 
At the workshop, Granta Nakayama, assistant administrator of EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, will present $100,000 grants to 10 community-based organizations for projects aimed at addressing environmental and public health issues as childhood asthma, farm worker pesticide protection, fish consumption, indoor air quality, drinking water contamination, and lead poisoning prevention.
