FENTHION RISK MITIGATION PUBLIC MEETING PLANNED

EPA will hold a public meeting in Orlando, Fla. on Jan.17 to gather information and public comments on risks and mitigation for the organophosphate pesticide fenthion. The meeting is part of the Agency’s ongoing efforts to increase public participation in its regulatory decision-making process for pesticides. The meeting will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 8978 International Drive, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EPA has assessed the risks of fenthion and concluded that currently registered uses pose unreasonable adverse effects to human health and the environment, and that mitigation measures are necessary. In addition to taking comments at the meeting, individuals may submit written comments to: Ms. Tracy Truesdale, U.S. EPA, Office of Pesticide Programs (7508C), 1200 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. 20460, or by e-mail at truesdale.tracy@epa.gov. Further information about this meeting is available on EPA’s web page at: www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/EPA-MEETINGS/2000/December/Day-29/m33013.htm
