EPA announces free toxics reporting workshops

      Denver -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will be hosting a series of toxics reporting workshops for industry in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming in upcoming weeks. The locations and dates are as follows:

      Billings, Montana: Tuesday, May 4, at the Holiday Inn Grand Montana
      Fargo, North Dakota: Thursday, April 29, at the Ramada Plaza Suites and Conference Center
      Sioux Falls, South Dakota: Tuesday, April 27, at the Holiday Inn City Centre
      Casper,Wyoming: Thursday, May 6, at the Holiday Inn

      All of the no-cost training sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m.

The one-day workshop is being offered to industrial facilities that are potentially subject to reporting requirements under Section 313 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). Section 313 of EPCRA (also known as the Toxics Release Inventory) requires that annual reports on toxic chemical releases be filed by owners and operators of businesses that 1) fall within the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes listed below; 2) have 10 or more full-time employees; and 3) exceed annual thresholds for specific chemicals being used or manufactured.

The workshop will provide comprehensive information and instruction to businesses (including consulting firms that may be assisting businesses) and government facilities that must complete an EPA Form R – the Toxic Chemical Release Inventory Reporting Form.

EPA encourages facility owners and operators to attend the training to ensure compliance with EPCRA requirements.
