PRESIDENT INTENDS TO NOMINATE TWO
EPA ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATORS

President Bush has announced his intention to nominate Marianne Lamont Horinko to be EPA Assistant Administrator for the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER) and Donald Schregardus to be EPA Assistant Administrator for the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance. Both previously served in the Agency. Horinko is President of Clay Associates, Inc., Washington, D.C., a consulting firm specializing in environmental matters. She launched the RCRA Policy Forum a broad-based organization focused on dialogue to improve the nation’s waste programs. From 1990 to 1993, Horinko served at EPA as Attorney Advisor to the OSWER Assistant Administrator, specializing in Superfund reauthorization and RCRA regulatory issues. She is an alumnus of the University of Maryland and the Georgetown University Law Center. Schregardus has been an environmental principal with ms consultants inc., Columbus, Ohio, since March 1999. He was director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for the previous eight years. Prior to that, Schregardus worked for 17 years in the federal EPA midwest region where he managed wastewater compliance and enforcement and conducted air, water and waste studies in Ohio. He received both his bachelor’s degree in physics and master’s degree in environmental sciences from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
