Clean Up Plan Proposed for Blackburn and Union Privileges Superfund Site in Walpole, Mass.

(Boston, Mass. – July 10, 2008) – A public informational meeting and formal public hearing on the proposed clean up plan for the Blackburn and Union Privileges Superfund site will be held on July 14.

The informational meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., immediately followed by the public hearing at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14. Both the meeting and hearing will be held in the Main Meeting Room, Town Hall, 135 School Street, Walpole, Mass.

At the informational poster board session, EPA representatives will be available to answer questions from the public about the proposed cleanup plan for the Blackburn & Union Privileges Superfund site as well as to discuss the other cleanup alternatives considered but not selected. The public will be able to provide verbal comments during the formal hearing portion of the evening, during which EPA will not be able to respond to comments or questions.

EPA is accepting public comment on the Blackburn & Union Privileges Superfund site cleanup proposal until July 18, 2008. Comments can be sent by mail, e-mail, or fax.

People can offer oral or written comments at the formal public hearing:
