EPA Sponsors Free Training on Healthy Homes for Health Care Workers

ATLANTA – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), University of Tennessee Extension (UT Extension), and the National Center for Healthy Housing is sponsoring two training courses, Healthy Homes for Community Workers and Launching a Healthy Homes Initiative in Memphis, Tenn. today, July 8 and Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Because of the interest in the training, UT Extension will conduct another day of Healthy Homes for Community Health Worker training on Thursday, July 10, 2014.

The courses will be taught by staff from the UT Extension Service and were selected by the local stakeholders to support the efforts a newly formed Healthy Housing Partnership. This training will assist community health workers to promote healthy housing, identify conditions that could trigger asthma in children, provide education and make referrals for remediation when needed. The training is funded by EPA through a grant with the National Center for Healthy Housing.
