EPA Administrator Browner to Join Senator Levin, Congressman Bonior at Metropolitan Beach on Lake St. Clair in Detroit, MI to Discuss Impact of Clean Water on Nation's Economy

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Carol M. Browner will join Senator Carl Levin and Congressman David Bonior at Metropolitan Beach on Lake St. Clair in Detroit, Michigan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25. Administrator Browner will discuss a report on clean water and the nation's economy. The report "Liquid Assets: A Summertime Perspective on the Importance of Clean Water to the Nation's Economy" demonstrates that clean water is a vital commodity that provides a stimulus for local economies. The report outlines the impact of clean water on regional economies in areas surrounding the Great Lakes, Columbia River, San Francisco Bay Delta, Gulf of Mexico and the Everglades. The report also identifies five key sectors of the U.S. economy that rely on clean water to promote sales and profits, create local jobs and boost local economies.

Administrator Browner will discuss the importance of the "Liquid Assets" report as well as the Clinton Administration's commitment to ensuring that clean water continues to keep our communities healthy and thriving.
