CHICAGO (Sept. 30, 2005) — U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has filed an administrative complaint and compliance order against Circuitronics LLC, Wheaton, Ill., for alleged hazardous waste violations. A $45,087 penalty is proposed.

Circuitronics, located at 201 N. Gables Blvd., was cited for violating Resource Conservation and Recovery Act requirements for managing hazardous waste including failure to: get a complete design and installation assessment from a registered engineer for its new hazardous waste tank systems, provide a complete description of emergency equipment in its contingency plan, institute annual personnel training and have an emergency coordinator familiar with all aspects of the contingency plan.

The company manufactures printed circuit boards and performs electroplating and electroless plating operations at its facility. The EPA order requires that Circuitronics comply with all requirements within 15 days. A hearing or settlement conference can be requested.

Under RCRA, EPA regulates hazardous waste from production to final disposal.
