(DALLAS – March 1, 2011) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded the State of Oklahoma $437,820 to protect, manage and restore their wetlands. The project will include development of a Wetlands Program Plan and a classification system of wetland habitats.

EPA’s Wetlands Program aims to increase the quantity and quality of wetlands in the United States by conserving and restoring wetland acreage and improving wetland conditions. EPA seeks to develop and refine effective, comprehensive programs for wetland protection and management.

EPA regularly works with partner agencies to develop solutions related to wetland problems by providing planning tools, technical assistance, educational guidance and financial aid.
