DELAWARE TRAILER PARK OWNER TO PAY $3000 FINE FOR DRINKING WATER VIOLATIONS

SEAFORD, Del. - Layton’s Riviera Inc., owner of a private trailer park in Seaford, Delaware, will pay a $3,000 penalty to settle alleged violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today.

In its October 1999 complaint, EPA cited Layton’s Riviera for violating requirements for reporting, monitoring and public notification. Layton’s failed to submit copies of analytical results for lead and copper to Delaware in 1997 and failed to report to Delaware that it had failed to collect required samples for lead and copper during 1997. The company has certified that it is now in compliance with the applicable regulations.

The SDWA, which was enacted in 1974 and amended in 1996, establishes “at the tap” water quality standards for public water systems. SDWA regulations establish maximum contaminant levels for public water systems, and impose water quality monitoring and reporting requirements.
