RCRA CLEANUP REFORMS GUIDANCE AVAILABLE

EPA has released the first of three Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Cleanup Reforms draft guidance documents for public comment. The draft guidance document entitled, “Handbook of Groundwater Policies for RCRA Corrective Action,” is available through the RCRA Hotline at 800-424-9346 and EPA’s web page at: https://www.epa.gov/correctiveaction. EPA will be seeking comments on this document until July 2. This handbook brings together in one place all of EPA’s policies applicable to groundwater cleanup at RCRA corrective action facilities. It will help regulators, members of the regulated community and the general public find and understand EPA policies on groundwater use and the protection and cleanup of groundwater at corrective action sites. These guidance documents are part of the Cleanup Reforms, announced on July 8, 1999, which are designed to achieve faster, more efficient cleanups at RCRA sites.
