KANSAS CITY PROPRIETOR PLEADS GUILTY TO ILLEGAL WASTE STORAGE

Luke C. Hester 202-564-7818 / hester.luke@epa.gov

John R. Dillon, co-owner of Environmental Services and Products Inc., in Kansas City, Kan., pleaded guilty to illegally storing hazardous wastes at his facility. More than 80 drums of ignitable wastes were on the site. Illegally storing them creates a serious fire hazard and a risk to firemen if they are responding to a fire and do not know that hazardous wastes are stored at the site of the fire. When sentenced, Dillon faces a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine. The case was investigated by EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division and is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Kansas City.
