TODAY: EPA Holding Public Meeting Regarding Lee’s Lane Landfill Site in Louisville, Ky.

(ATLANTA – July 19, 2012) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold a public meeting today regarding the Lee’s Lane Landfill Superfund Site in Louisville, Ky. EPA, the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection (KYDEP) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) will provide information about the history of the site and its current status.

Louisville, Ky.
The Lee’s Lane Landfill Superfund Site is a 112-acre former landfill that received over two million cubic yards of domestic, commercial and industrial wastes between the 1940s and 1975. Sand and gravel quarrying also occurred on the site before and during the property’s use as a landfill. The site was deleted from the National Priorities List in 1996 after EPA and local agencies completed response actions to address site risks. Air and groundwater monitoring has continued at the site since that time.
