EPA ADMINISTRATOR BROWNER TO PRESENT 1997 PRESIDENT’S ENVIRONMENTAL YOUTH AWARDS TO STUDENTS FROM 10 COMMUNITIES



EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will honor students from 10 communities across the United States with the President’s Environmental Youth Awards at a ceremony to be held at the White House on Thursday, March 26, 1998, at 10 a.m. The awards, presented annually since 1971, honor outstanding projects created by students in kindergarten through 12th grade to clean up communities and promote local environmental awareness. Also speaking at the ceremony will be Mickey Ibarra, Assistant to the President and Director of White House Intergovernmental Affairs.
The 1997 award recipients are from the following areas: New Haven, Vt.; Scotch Plains, N.J.; LaPlata, Md.; Clearwater, Fla.; Chicago, Ill.; Anthony, N.M.; West Branch, Iowa; Hyrum, Utah; Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands; and Soldotna, Alaska.
