Leavitt Showcases Newest Generation of Clean Cars and Fuels

(01/23/2004) - Starting with the 2004 model year, automakers have gone beyond EPA’s “Tier 2” requirements for the number of cars and trucks that meet tough new tailpipe emission standards. At the same time, fuel refiners are producing and supplying cleaner gas and diesel – helping Tier 2 vehicles run 77-95 percent cleaner. EPA Administrator Leavitt will join representatives of automakers and fuel companies to present the new cars, trucks, SUVs and minivans that use new low-sulfur fuels.
