SECOND TRIBAL PESTICIDE COUNCIL MEETING TO BE
HELD SEPT. 27-28

The second meeting of the Tribal Pesticide Program Council (TPPC) will be held at the Winterlodge, Yakama Nation in Washington on September 27-28. The TPPC was formed through a grant from EPA and is made up of approximately 30 tribes who coordinate with EPA’s pesticide programs on a routine basis as well as a number of tribes with pesticide interests. The group, led by an Executive Committee of 13 tribal representatives, works closely with EPA and other tribal organizations to assess policy and funding needs in Indian country and ensure that federal pesticide regulations are effectively applied to tribal land. The agenda for this open meeting includes sessions on tribal authority and jurisdictional issues, integrated pest management, federal inspector credentials and tribal pesticide program development, among other areas of interest to tribes. Also, TPPC members will be invited to sign up for a partnership training program that will link experienced tribal pesticides inspectors with less experienced staff. For more information or to sign up to attend the meeting, contact Regina Langton at 703-305-7161.
