EPA to Co-Host Black Leaf Chemical Public Meeting

(ATLANTA – June 12, 2012) On Thursday, June 14, 2012, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) representatives along with Councilman David James will co-host a public meeting for residents in the Park Hill neighborhood to discuss recent soil sampling surrounding the Black Leaf Chemical site.

This is an opportunity for residents to ask questions and offer comments about the results of the February 2012 sampling event, or other issues related to the site.

When: June 14, 2012, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Where: Wheatley Elementary School

The Black Leaf Chemical Site is a former pesticide manufacturing facility located in the Louisville Industrial Park at 1391 Dixie Highway in Louisville, KY. The site, which is located on a 29 acre property in the Park Hill neighborhood operated from the 1930s to the 1970s, and handled pesticides such as Black Leaf 40, DDT, Dieldrin, and Lindane.
