EPA Employee Honored for Equal Opportunity

PHILADELPHIA -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has presented its annual Equal Employment Award to Betty L. Harris of Williamstown, N.J.

Harris, who has worked at EPA for 28 years, was honored for her special efforts in improving employee harmony, promoting affirmative action and equal employment principles and assisting the career development of others.

"Betty is approachable, patient, reliable, thoughtful and assertive. She is a role model and mentor who worked her way up the career ladder from clerk typist to environmental protection assistant to environmental protection specialist. Her career path has inspired others to follow their dreams," W. Michael McCabe, EPA mid-Atlantic regional administrator.
