NATURAL AND INDUSTRIAL DISASTER REDUCTION FORUM

On Oct. 13, the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Natural Disaster Reduction and the Institute for Business & Home Safety will hold the 14th Public Private Partnership 2000 Forum, “When Natural and Industrial Disasters Collide.” The forum will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13 at the Hart Senate Office Building, Room 216, in Washington, D.C. This forum is co-sponsored by the George Washington University Institute for Crisis, Disaster and Risk Management, the Stanford Center for Earth Science Information Research, and the American Chemical Society. The keynote presentation will be given by Timothy Fields, Jr., EPA’s Assistant Administrator for the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response. Forum participants will discuss the increasing cost and complexity of disasters, and the roles of government, industry, and other stakeholders to reduce disaster losses.
