TECHNICAL BRIEFING TO BE HELD FOR THE ORGANOPHOSPHATE
PESTICIDES OXYDEMETON-METHYL AND METHIDATHION

On Dec. 8, EPA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture will present a technical briefing on the revised risk assessments for two organophosphate (OP) pesticides, oxydemeton-methyl (ODM also known as MSR) and methidathion. The briefing will be held at the Holiday Inn Capitol Plaza in Sacramento, Calif., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The all-day briefing will cover both pesticides. The technical briefing for ODM and methidathion will provide an opportunity for stakeholders, including those representing agricultural interests, to learn about the data, information and methods that EPA used in revising the risk assessments for these pesticides. It will also present the opportunity to begin discussing risk mitigation ideas. ODM and methidathion are used on fruit, vegetable, nut, citrus and other crops. A Nov. 18 Federal Register notice, available at: https://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/, announces the ODM and methidathion technical briefing. In addition, the Agency has posted a brief summary of the preliminary risk assessments for ODM and methidathion at the Office of Pesticides web site: https://www.epa.gov/pesticides/op/status.htm. The public is encouraged to submit proposed risk mitigation measures on the revised risk assessments to the public docket during the 60-day public comment period, which begins on Dec. 8.
