EPA to Screen Lockers At Cardozo High School for Mercury

• At the request of District of Columbia Public Schools, EPA will assist with screening all 800 lockers in Cardozo High School for mercury beginning March 15.

• Contractors for DCPS are currently cleaning the chemistry lab and packing chemicals for disposal. EPA will screen the areas adjacent to the laboratory for any new mercury.

• EPA has turned the 8-hour mercury vapor sampling data over to DC Department of Health.

• EPA will continue to support DCPS and DCDOH in identifying any mercury contamination that may remain in the lockers so that students can safely return to school.
