PHILADELPHIA – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s mid-Atlantic region presented its Equal Employment Opportunity Award to Benita Graham and Deanna Moultrie, both of Philadelphia.

Graham, an administrative assistant in the region’s Air Protection Division, and Moultrie, who is a remedial project manager with the Hazardous Site Cleanup Division, were honored for their special efforts in improving employee harmony, promoting affirmative action and equal employment principles, and assisting the career development of others.

“They have demonstrated effective leadership skill, imagination, and perseverance in extending equal opportunities to all employees,” said last year’s winner, Mike Frankel, who made the announcement during the region’s May 11 employee recognition ceremony.

Moultrie is the manager of the Black Employment Program Advisory Council. Graham is the manager of the Administrative Council for Excellence Special Emphasis Program. The purpose of special emphasis programs is to ensure equal opportunity in hiring, advancement, training, and treatment of women and minorities.

Moultrie, who is currently on assignment at EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C., has been with EPA for eight years. Graham, also with EPA for eight years, received the region’s Administrative Excellence Award in 2005.

EPA’s mid-Atlantic region covers Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
