EPA SCHEDULES PUBLIC MEETINGS TO SOLICIT COMMENTS
ON TOXIC RELEASE INVENTORY REPORTING FORMAT

Over the next several months, EPA will conduct approximately nine public meetings and take comment on the reporting form it currently uses to assemble its Toxic Release Inventory (TRI). TRI is a national database that annually tracks the environmental releases of 643 toxic chemicals into the air, water and land. Currently, 22,000 facilities submit over 73,000 forms under EPA’s TRI program. The purpose of the meetings is to obtain comments on ways to improve the reporting form and the type of information it makes available to communities and to help streamline the reporting requirements and paperwork burden for facilities subject to the program. Three meetings have already been scheduled as listed below and additional meetings will be held after the first of the year and will be announced in the Federal Register. For more information and to register to speak at the meetings, contact Michelle Price at 202-260-3372. Meetings scheduled for November are as follows:

• Thursday, Nov. 13, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. -- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, East Tower, room 526, 401 M St., S.W., Washington, D.C.

• Tuesday, Nov. 18, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. -- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Marianas conference room, 75 Hawthorne St., San Francisco, Calif.

• Thursday, Nov. 20, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. -- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Room 325, Chicago, Ill.
