(Seattle, Washington – December 27, 2006) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 10 announced today that the outdoor burn ban issued for the Yakama Indian Reservation in Washington State has been lifted due to improving air quality conditions. The burn ban was issued December 19, 2006 as air quality conditions began deteriorating.

Air quality conditions have improved with a change in weather patterns and increased winds. This has cleared out the region and brought air pollution levels down. As a result of EPA’s decision, outdoor burning may resume within the Yakama Reservation boundaries in accordance with the Federal Air Rules for Reservations.

For more Information, please call 1-800-424-4EPA and ask for the FARR Hotline or visit the Federal Air Rules for Reservations (FARR) website.
