Emergency Planners from Five States to Meet in League City, Texas

     The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will lead a semiannual meeting of the Region 6 Regional Response Team in League City, Texas, June 29 through July 1. Sixteen federal and a dozen state agencies from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico comprise the team. The team supports federal emergency activities and helps local communities develop effective plans for coping with emergencies ranging from natural disasters to industrial accidents and terrorist attacks.

     The meeting will highlight the team's partnership with private industry. Topics include counter- terrorism efforts, potential Y2K problems and electronic emergency information systems.
