EPA TO HOLD MEETINGS ON ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN THE BORDER AREA

(San Francisco)--The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) today announced that community meetings will be held in Southern California to get public input for developing "Border XXI", a joint U.S.-Mexico program that will address environmental problems in the border area.  The purpose of the meetings is for U.S. EPA to provide local community members with an overview of the Border XXI program and find out what concerns community members have regarding environmental problems within their communities and along the border.  

     The meetings in Southern California are scheduled as

     U.S. EPA strongly encourages community participation at these meetings.  Community participation is essential to the development of the Border XXI environmental program.  During the meetings, U.S. EPA representatives will be available to answer questions and respond to comments concerning the Border XXI planning process.
