Media Advisory: EPA officials to visit Saint Mary's Health Care in Grand Rapids

CHICAGO (Monday, April 17, 2006)

WHAT: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency officials from Washington, D.C., and Chicago will visit Saint Mary's Health Care to learn more about the Asthma Network of West Michigan and to meet community stakeholders involved in the ongoing success of the program. EPA has selected the network as a model program. It will participate with other model programs from throughout the nation in an EPA forum May 22-23 in Washington, D.C., to discuss the most effective community-based strategies for managing asthma and achieving positive outcomes. The Asthma Network consists of individuals from all three acute care hospitals in Grand Rapids as well as the American Lung Association of Michigan, the Kent County Health Department, Grand Valley State University, Priority Health, Community Care Plan, private practices and Visiting Nurse Services.
