EPA Region 4 announces 2004 Drinking Tower Award Winners

The United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region 4 announced today the winners of the 2004 Drinking Water Tower Awards. The program was designed to honor the 30th Anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act by recognizing water systems with the most unique and creative water towers.

The award categories are based on system size. The winners are:

Small Category for Creative Design
Goodland Water District
Naples, Florida

Medium Category for Creative Design
City of Social Circle
Social Circle, Georgia

Large Unique Design
East Frankfort Elevated Concrete Water Tank
Frankfort, Kentucky

Large Unique Design
Escambia County Utilities Authority
Pensacola, Florida

Large Creative Design
City of Versailles
Versailles, Kentucky

Large Creative Design
City of Hallandale Beach
Hallandale, Florida

Small Creative Design
Atlantic Beach
Atlantic Beach, North Carolina

Medium Creative Design
City of Selma
Selma, North Carolina

The criteria for the awards include: unique features (ex. Historical water towers, structural framework, and unique features and forms) and creative design (ex. standard or custom designed tower).
