INNOVATIONS IN ENFORCEMENT AND COMPLIANCE ASSURANCE
EPA has released a report, "Innovative Approaches to Enforcement and Compliance Assurance - Action Plan For Innovation," which is the result of two major EPA conferences held earlier this year that were co-sponsored by EPA and the Vice President’s National Partnership on Reinventing Government. The report expands on the Agency’s reinvention of the enforcement and compliance assurance program that was reorganized in 1994. Since then, EPA has launched new initiatives to make the program more effective in protecting public health and the environment. The report will change the Agency’s delivery of compliance assistance by focusing on EPA’s role in developing materials and tools for a broad network of compliance assistance providers. The report will also encourage more self-auditing by the regulated community, make routine use of integrated compliance and enforcement strategies, and expand the role of EPA’s stakeholders in strategic planning.
