FY’97 ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION GRANT AWARDS
EPA today announced a total of $3 million in environmental education grants to state, local and tribal governments; schools; universities; and not-for-profit organizations. These grants support projects which design, demonstrate or disseminate environmental education practices, methods or techniques. Environmental educations projects were selected to provide training and delivery systems for basic factual information about environmental protection, including cleaner air, land and water, and teacher student training in these subject areas. The Environmental Education Grants Program was established under Section 6 of the National Environmental Education Act of 1990. EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C., awarded 13 grants for approximately $1 million and EPA’s regional offices awarded over 200 grants for the remaining $2 million. Information on the regional grant winners can be obtained from the appropriate EPA regional offices listed below.
