Press Conference and Visual Media Opportunity: Federal Recovery Act Dollars Create Hundreds of Bay Area Jobs

SAN FRANCISCO – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Department of Toxic Substances Control will hold a press conference on Thursday October 15th to announce nearly $5 million for new Brownfields projects in California. Regular and Recovery Act (Stimulus) funding in the Bay Area will help assess, cleanup and revitalize three former industrial and commercial sites, turning them from problem properties into vital, functioning parts of the San Francisco community. These projects are anticipated to create nearly 500 jobs in the Bay Area.


WHERE: 2235 Third St., San Francisco. The press conference will be held along the city’s central waterfront where construction is underway at the site of one of the projects.

WHEN: Thursday, Oct 15th, 10:45 a.m. - Media check in
Press conference begins at 11:00 a.m. followed by:

    · Informal Q & A session with key officials
    · Photo opportunity of active remediation of the site while environmental contractors use heavy equipment to excavate lead contamination.
