EPA To hold public hearing regarding the Minority Business and Women's Business Enterprise Programs

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 regarding Minority Business and Women's Business Enterprises (MBE/WBE) Program. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center, 2nd Floor, Conference Rooms B & C, 61 Forsyth Street, Atlanta, Georgia,

This is an opportunity for grantees, MBE/WBEs, federal, state and local officials to better understand and comment on the Supreme Court's "Adarand" decision to extend strict judicial scrutiny to federal affirmative action programs.

Major changes from the current MBE/WBE requirements will include:

    • a proposed name change
    • certification requirements
    • good faith efforts
    • contract administration provisions
    • submission of fair share goals
    • record keeping and reporting
