EPA Administrator Helps Girls Scouts Earning New Environmental Health Badge; Kicks off Children’s Health Month in Washington

On the day recognized as Children’s Health Day, EPA Administrator Christie Whitman will kick off a month in which she will lend focus to issues such as asthma, lead poisoning, sun exposure, safe fishing, smoke free environments and clean water. As part of the kickoff Whitman will host area Girl Scouts at EPA Headquarters who are working on the new Environmental Health Badge offered by the Girl Scouts. Whitman will teach the girls a lesson on fish safety and water quality. This fall is the first time girls will work on the badge, a result of a partnership between the EPA and the Girl Scout organization.
