EPA awards $30,000 to the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Services Office to improve drinking water quality

(Dallas, Texas – August 21, 2007) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded $30,000 to the Indian Health Services (IHS). IHS will use the funds to improve drinking water quality in the Native American community. The project will focus on completing a scalable drawing of the water system that can be used for future systems analysis, community planning and zoning, and preventive maintenance. The overall goal of the project is to improve tribal compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and to improve tribal self-sufficiency.
