PHILADELPHIA - - Child actor and E-Crew member, Wendell Harvin of Aldan, Pennsylvania can now add Emmy-winner to his resume. “It’s Our World,” a series of public service announcements featuring Wendell, recently received the award for the best children series category at the 2000 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards.

“We are very proud of these announcements and the message they convey,” said EPA Regional Administrator Bradley Campbell. “To be honored so highly by the entertainment industry is truly a reflection of the talent and professionalism that went into creating these public service spots.”

“It’s Our World” is a series of public service announcements, produced jointly
by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and WHYY-TV12. The announcements feature lively dancing and rap music and are designed to teach children to protect the environment and their own health.

Starring in the ads are five children who make up the “E-Crew.” They give tips to children on how to protect themselves and the environment from sun exposure and second hand smoke; conserve water and energy; and recycle. Each child wears a brightly colored T-shirt displaying the letter E,A,R,T, or H. Wendell is the letter “E”.

Plans are underway to re-release “It’s Our World” on local PBS stations during children’s programming.

Editor’s note: A photo of the E-Crew is available electronically upon request.
