FIFTH ANNUAL POLLUTION PREVENTION WEEK SEPT. 20-26

During the week of Sept. 20, the Fifth Annual National Pollution Prevention Week will be celebrated by government agencies, businesses, environmental groups and citizens across the country in an effort to find common-sense solutions to pollution problems. The Pollution Prevention Act of 1990 created a national policy to prevent pollution to minimize the need to control, treat, or dispose of it. This policy has become one of the cornerstones of EPA’s initiatives to protect children's health, to promote environmental justice, to encourage corporate eco-efficiency, and to better inform the public. Pollution Prevention (P2) is also a guiding principle of the Agency’s reinvention enterprise, including the Administrator’s new “Aiming for Excellence” effort to encourage environmental stewardship and accelerate environmental progress. National P2 Week highlights these and other activities of businesses, state and local governments, and citizens who strive for a smarter approach to environmental protection, rather then engaging in expensive after-the-fact pollution cleanups. More information on P2 activities may be found at: https://www.epa.gov/p2.
