EPA’S ENDOCRINE DISRUPTORS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
TO MEET IN FLORIDA

The sixth meeting of EPA’s Endocrine Disruptors Screening and Testing Advisory Committee (EDSTAC) will be held at the Omni Rosen Hotel, 9840 International Drive, Orlando, Fla., Dec. 2-3 (hotel phone - 407-354-9840; fax - 407-351-2659). Committee work groups will make progress reports and presentations: Priority Setting; Screening and Testing; and Communications and Outreach. The meeting is open to the public and begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2. A public comment period will be held on Tuesday 7-9 p.m. The two-day meeting is scheduled to adjourn at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The EDSAC was established in November 1996 to advise the Agency on development of a strategy to screen and test chemicals, including pesticides, for their potential to disrupt endocrine functions in humans, fish and other wildlife. The 1996 Food Quality Protection Act and the l996 Amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act require EPA to establish a screening and testing program for endocrine disrupting chemicals. Representation on the committee include government, industry, academia, public health and public interest groups.
