EPA ANNOUNCES THE AVAILABILITY OF THE REMOVAL ADMINISTRATIVE RECORD FOR THE ITT THOMPSON INDUSTRIES REMOVAL SITE IN MADISON, FLORIDA

The United States Environmental Protection Agency announced today that the Administrative Record for the ITT Thompson Industries Removal Action in Madison, Florida is available for public review. The Administrative Record file includes documents that form the basis for selection of the removal action. Documents in the record include: preliminary assessment and inspection reports, test results, and the Administrative Order on Consent. All interested persons are encouraged to review and comment on the documents. The documents will be available for public review during normal business hours at the following locations: Madison County Public Library 1000 College Avenue Madison, Florida 32340 Attn: Charlotte Cason US EPA Records Center - Region 4 Sam Nunn Federal Center - 11th Floor 61 Forsyth Street, Southwest Atlanta, Georgia 30303 Attn: Debbie Jourdan EPA will accept comments regarding the Administrative Record during the public comment period which begins on August 20, 2000 and ends on September 19, 2000. Comments should be addressed to Don Rigger, Federal On-Scene Coordinator, U.S. EPA Region 4, ERRB, 11th Floor, 61 Forsyth Street, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30303-3104. At the end of the 30-day comment period, a written response to all pertinent comments will be prepared in a responsiveness summary and placed in the file. The site is located within a mixed commercial and residential area in Madison. Residential areas are located south, east, and west of the site.
