EPA awards over $1,000,000 to University of New Orleans for the Pontchartrain Basin Restoration program

(Dallas, Texas – July 10, 2007) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded a cooperative agreement in the amount of $1,348,900 to University of New Orleans Research and Tech Foundation for the Pontchartrain Basin Restoration program. UNOR&TF will fund ten additional projects that focus on reducing or eliminating sewerage related pollution, and provide education and outreach to improve water quality in the Pontchartrain Basin. The municipalities receiving these funds are St. Helena Parish, St. Charles Parish, Town of Walker, Town of Livingston, Jefferson Parish Department of Works, St. Bernard Parish, City of Kenner, City of Gonzalez, St. John the Baptist Parish, and Jefferson Parish.
