EPA’S ENDOCRINE DISRUPTORS ADVISORY COMMITTEE WILL MEET IN CHICAGO


The fourth meeting of EPA’s Endocrine Disruptors Screening and Testing Advisory Committee (EDSTAC) will be held at the Ambassador West Hotel, l300 North State Parkway, Chicago, July 15-16. Open to the public, the meeting begins at 9 a.m.. A public comment period will be held on July l5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The two day meeting is scheduled to adjourn on July l6 at 4:30 p.m. The EDSTAC was established in November l996 to advise the Agency on development of a strategy to screen and test chemicals, including pesticides, for their potential to disrupt endocrine functions in humans, fish and other wildlife. The l996 Food Quality Protection Act and the 1996 Amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act require EPA to establish a screening and testing program for chemicals to determine their potential to disrupt endocrine functions. Representation on the committee include government, industry, academia, public health and public interest groups.
