U.S. EPA, NATIONAL COUNCIL HOLDING EVENT ON URBAN REVITALIZATION

(San Francisco)--  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(U.S. EPA) and the National Environmental Justice Advisory
Council are sponsoring one of five national public dialogues on
urban revitalization on Tuesday, July 18, 1995.

     The public dialogue will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at
Nile Hall, Preservation Park, 668 13th St., Oakland.

     The meeting is part of a fact finding mission to gather
community-based recommendations to guide national policy on
economic development of brownfields, which are underused or
abandoned commercial or industrial sites.

     The public dialogue is a community-driven process whereby
public agencies and other social institutions respond to the
concerns and recommendations of residents impacted by brownfields
and organizations working on community development. Community
members from the San Francisco Bay area and southern California
will discuss the issues that affect their respective
neighborhoods.
